![]() Omigosh!
Once again, it is time to decide what is going to make my family stop and say WOW! (or gollee, or gosh!, or gulp!, or Eeek!, or egad!) After sorting through what I do have and realizing what an unpredictable year this continues to be (gulp), I have decided to have a very traditional and natural decor in my home this year. Very red, very green, many pinecones and many berries. (Yea!!) I have purchased some wonderful lights that have a 1/2 red and 1/2 green bulb. I am searching for the perfect flannel, plaid ribbon. I will pull out my wooden bead garland and every homemade ornament my children ever assembled for me. (sob, sob!) Outside, I will gather all the different varieties of evergreen branches I can, branches of bright red berries from quince bushes, branches of red twig dogwood and of course all the pinecones I can find and (swoosh) into the windowboxes and (whump) into the whiskey barrels they will go. Pine roping will go around the doorway, lamppost, and banister with white lights and red berry accents. I most likely will put the ever-popular red velveteen bow on for the finishing touch. (whew) The home debate is whether or not to hang the over-popular "icicle lights" - yes they are charming for my old fashioned Christmas but (ugh!) EVERYONE has them! Well, this is the very beginning and when it is all done (grunt! aaargh! pant! ugh!) we will all sit back and hyuk! hyuk! and hardy! har! and hee! hee! hee! ha! ha! ha! ho! ho! ho! and yackety-yack-yack over a nice cup if cinnamon apple cider (hmmm...ahhh...) and a new stack of Archie comic books. 11/24/00
