Our Mums are hardy perennials. With just a few easy steps, you can get your Mums to come back bigger and more beautiful year after year!
1. Plant Mums in full sun in well-drained garden soil.
2. Water well when soil dries.
3. Cut back stems to 2" above the ground when the plant dies back for winter.
4. Mulch the top of the plants with straw, pine needles, oak leaves, or bark mulch.
5. Next spring, remove the mulch and spread it around the base of the plant. When plants are actively growing, pinch the tips when they are at least 2" long. Pinching keeps the plants shorter, fuller, and gives them a nice shape. Repeat the pinching 2-3 times, but not after July 15th. At that point you want to let them go so you will have beautiful flowers for fall.
